Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
A Life Story ("we", "us") helps families record a loved one's life stories through weekly voice conversations and turns them into private audio moments and podcast episodes. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who this covers
Our service has two kinds of people: the storyteller (the person whose stories are recorded) and the family members of their circle (the sponsor who sets things up and listeners who hear the results). This policy applies to both.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide it).
- Voice recordings and transcripts. The core of the service. We record story conversations (in the app or by phone) and generate text transcripts from them.
- Contact details for calls. If a storyteller is called by phone, we store the phone number you provide so we can place the call.
- Circle and profile data. The circle you create, storyteller profile, relationships, and which stories are shared.
- Subscription and purchase data. Managed through our payments provider; we receive purchase status and entitlements, not your full card details.
- Device and usage data. Basic technical data (app version, device type, diagnostics, crash logs) to keep the app working.
How we use it
- To run story conversations and produce transcripts, moments, and episodes.
- To share stories privately with the people in your circle.
- To place scheduled story calls to the storyteller.
- To manage subscriptions and entitlements.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your recordings or transcripts to train third-party advertising models.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of processors who handle data on our behalf under contract: cloud hosting and storage, real-time voice infrastructure, speech-to-text transcription, the AI model that conducts and summarizes conversations, telephony for phone calls, and subscription management. They may only use the data to provide their service to us.
Sharing
Stories are shared only within the storyteller's circle. We share data outside that circle only with the processors above, when required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of users.
Retention
We keep recordings, transcripts, and produced episodes for as long as the account is active so your family can keep the archive. You can ask us to delete specific content or your entire account at any time.
Your choices and rights
- Access, correct, or delete your data by contacting us.
- Delete your account, which removes associated personal data.
- Control microphone access through your device settings.
- Manage or cancel a subscription through the App Store.
Children
The service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
